Ensuring progression in the EYS through developing a holistic, creative curriculum and environment

This course has been cancelled

Outline

This course aims to support practitioners in understanding how to develop their practice further considering how to plan effectively for 3-5 year olds and place an importance on child’s interests. It will support practitioners in developing high quality adult-child interactions which will help practitioners to develop children’s resilience to learn. It is structured over two sessions to enable practitioners to have reflection and evaluation time to consider how they can then further develop practice.

Description

We would explore this through considering:
  • how to support children to be creative and divergent thinkers and therefore enhance their independent learning
  • considering how to ensure our young children develop resilience
  • the importance of high quality adult/child interactions
  • how to plan for children’s next steps in learning using a high quality environment and children’s interests and how to capture this learning
  • the structure of an early years day/week to ensure a balance of learning
opportunities including child-led (with adults available to support and provide challenge) and adult-initiated (however this does not always mean sat a table with the teacher)
  • The differences between boys and girls development in communication, language and literacy
  • Delegates will be encouraged to keep a reflective journal of their journey to help them evaluate the impact of their learning and share ideas with others
