Ofsted Update - Planning for September 2019 - Primary

This is a phase specific half-day update session on Ofsted enabling you to gain an understanding of the changing focus of inspections and for you to discuss curriculum and outcome implications.

HMCI, recently announced details of planned changes to the way Ofsted inspects schools and early years settings from September 2019. These changes will move Ofsted's focus away from headline data to look instead at how schools are achieving these results, and whether they are offering a curriculum that is broad, rich and deep, or simply teaching to the test.

This autumn’s update session is intended as the first of three parts to help you plan for these changes. November 14th is a phase specific half-day session looking in detail at the methodology which inspectors are being prepared for. This will be followed by a second session in the Spring Term to look at how Ofsted is progressing with its planned changes and using some good practice examples from North Yorkshire schools in curriculum planning and evaluating how pupils are progressing. The final session in the summer will draw this year’s updates together by reviewing the latest developments from Ofsted and sharing developing good practice.

Schools will have a better understanding of the changed focus of Ofsted inspections.
