A conference organised jointly by the Inclusion Service and North Yorkshire Parent and Carer Forum aimed at supporting children and young people’s communication and interaction needs – with a target audience of schools and settings and parents and carers.
The day will be made up of: keynote presentations from Jean Gross CBE and former National Communication Champion, Anna Branagan from ‘Word Aware’, and from young people, as well as wide variety of workshops such as play therapy, whole school approaches to SLCN and to autism, drama therapy, support at early years, strategies for children and young people who are demand avoidant, screening for SLCN… amongst others. There will also be opportunity to browse amongst a number of information stands and to experience the delight of The Forest School signing choir.
A deepened understanding of some of the challenges experienced by children and young people with communication and interaction needs and their families as well as enhanced awareness of effective practice and strategies to support. We truly hope that the conference will provide the opportunity for schools and settings and families to work together to improve experiences and outcomes for children and young people with communication and interaction needs.
